Sport

Students participate in PE (‘physical education’) twice a week, playing a wide range of sports, including football, badminton, tennis, basketball, rugby, volleyball, netball and ultimate frisbee. There are additional opportunities to play football and volleyball in supervised after school clubs. Students often use the College’s facilities and equipment to play with their friends in their free time too.

Sports are also included in the weekend programme, with further options such as yoga, table tennis, and walks in the local area incorporated into the schedule

The College has a well-equipped Fitness Centre with a free weights section, resistance machines, a treadmill and a resistance bike which the students can use during supervised times in the evenings or weekends. There is also an open-air 20m swimming pool onsite which is open during the Summer Term and is very popular with the students on hot, sunny days.

Each term the College runs inter-house sports events. Each student is placed in a sports house named after the local area – Burghfield, Aldermaston, Tadley and Mortimer. These events are highly competitive and thoroughly enjoyed by students. Throughout the year, points are accumulated from these events and the winning house is presented with a prize at Speech Day. Additionally, informal staff versus students tournaments are held each term, which are very popular

Health education covering nutrition, fitness and well-being is also covered as part of our PSHE curriculum.
